If
you want the current page for GOTM,
see the green navigation box. (To the left.)
This
will be my page for the archives for my ... "Game
Of The Month" Feature ... ... ...
beginning in January, 2007.
Games for 2007
Note: There will be no game for January or February, of 2007 ...
due to various problems. (During the period of September through December. 2006 -
my computer broke
repeatedly. Additionally, my wife was very ill, during the month of September, 2006 ... she
was taken to the ER many times, and was
hospitalized once for about a week-and-a-half.
During that period, I fell so far behind, there was simply no hope of ever catching
up.)
-
- Game
# 38
(March, 2007)
From the Morelia/Linares tournament ... this game - where Black wins - shows what my readers have often
requested.
("Show me a game where Black wins once in a while.") It is
annotated, and there
and there are plenty of links. It also dovetails nicely with the
October
column.
-
- Game
# 39
(April, 2007) Here is a variation of
the Torre Attack, an opening that many readers have requested that I cover. Its a nice game -
it
was almost a miniature - where White gets an
attack down the half-open h-file. The GM who plays White is not afraid of sacking a little material,
and there are 16
diagrams, so you can probably follow this one, even if you do not have a board handy.
Enjoy!
-
- Game #
40
(May, 2007) One of the world's
youngest GM's continues to improve ... AND impress! Here he defeats a solid 2600+ GM in a
"must-win" situation ... and winds up grabbing clear first place in this tournament. (Cat. XII) A
nice game - with links.
-
- Game #
41 (June,
2007) GM Gata Kamsky hammers GM E. Bacrot in a
Ruy Lopez ... from the 2007 FIDE Candidate Matches.
-
- Game #
42 (July,
2007) GM V. Zvjaginsev soundly defeats
GM Wang Hao from the 4th GM (March) tournament. (A King's Gambit!)
-
- Game #
43 (October,
2011) First of all - its about time!!!
After a nearly 4-6 year period when I was unable to work on this feature,
(due to the many problems in my personal life); I finally have returned to
my "Game of The Month" feature.
This month's game - in a departure from normal tradition - was not even
picked by me. (Another user from the CG website
- chose this one.) In my opinion, its a very brilliant game by a young GM
... who could someday be playing for the World Championships. (Maxim
Rodshtein) It really is a fantastic game, and you should definitely check
this one out! Thorough annotations, many links, and even a quick look at the
theory of the Grunfeld Defense! [D74]
-
- Game # 44 (November,
2011)
This is a monster game between two "Top Ten" GM's ... from a
recent "Super-GM" event.
If
you have seen an interesting game, that has been played recently, please bring
it to my attention. Remember, I have to be able to verify this game in TWIC
or ChessBase BEFORE
I will even consider trying to annotate it!! (Page
created December 22nd, 2005.)
